ABOUT KIVILCIM GUNAY

Understanding human behavior has been the driving force in my career.

I took research roles across various fields including clinical psychology, market research and customer research. Currently, I am working as a mixed-methods user experience researcher across industries such as fintech, insurance and healthcare.

I am experienced in designing and executing quantitative and qualitative research methodologies. One question at a time, my work enables me to uncover user and consumer insights.

I have had the opportunity to work in international settings within the consumer goods, hospitality and food service management, entertainment, tobacco, healthcare, non-profit industries, finance, insurance and auto industries.

Aside from my work I enjoy reading and learning from the fields of organizational behavior, behavioral science, social psychology and leadership.

PROFESSIONAL OUTLOOK

Where I Am. Where I’m Going.

As a researcher, I ask questions. Questions are powerful and can be used to clarify ambiguity, learn more, and to encourage people to think in a new way. Through the questions I ask, I enable people I work with to look at problems from a different angle.

One question at a time, I work to uncover user, consumer and shopper insights that unlock opportunities for my clients.

THINGS THAT FEED MY SOUL

WRITING & READING

I like to note down ideas and express myself in the form of poetry. It surely is another way to get the creative flow going. In my free time enjoy reading books in business, psychology and fiction.

Check out the thought leadership pieces I wrote for Medium and EY Design Studio Blog!

MUSIC

Using our creative outlets is one of the best ways to recharge. I have been involved with music from a young age playing the violin and singing. I have been exploring the jazz scene taking the stage during jam sessions in addition to the musical improv group I formed making up songs as we go.

SWIMMING

I devoted 15 years of my life to swimming and was a student athlete most of my academic career. I received top 3 places in national meets and also, I represented my country on the international team and finally Johns Hopkins University as a butterfly specialist. Swimming has taught me to be patient but ambitious in my goals and that persistence with a strong mind will get me results. I currently do not swim competitively, but I transferred the skills and the right approach from the water to the land, to my professional career. I enjoy water sports besides swimming such as waterskiing, windsurfing and sailing.
